Quarterly grain stocks came in as follows:  Corn 1.361 bln bushels (1.429 estimated, 1.377 last year); soybeans 268 mln bushels (242 estimated, 274 last year); wheat 1.78 bln bushels (1.772 estimated, 1.778 last year).  Production numbers were slightly changed: corn 13.715 bln bu (13.719 est, 13.73 previous); soybeans 4.27 bln bu (4.269 est, 4.276 previous); wheat 1.65 bln bu (1.729 est, 1.734 in Aug).  The report was friendly corn, bearish wheat, and largely bearish soybeans.  The sell-off in soybeans and wheat following the report did not allow corn to take advantage of the friendly numbers.

The monthly USDA WASDE report was today and it was about as boring as it can get.  The USDA took the month off leaving corn and beans carryouts unchanged.  Corn remains at 1.540 billion bushels and beans at 380 million bushels.  World ending stocks were slightly lowered on both corn and beans.  World corn was pegged at 288.94 million tonnes vs 290.3 million tonnes previously.  World beans were pegged at 121.4 million tonnes vs 124.3 million tonnes previously.  All of the South American crop production estimates were also left unchanged.

Corn trade was flat at 2 lower throughout a majority of the day to take us back to where we started the week.  Soybeans were 9-11 higher in what looks to be a dead-cat bounce in the middle of nowhere on the charts....
